Black Sheep Brewery 2016 Ripon Triathlon

A huge round of applause to all who took part in the 2016 Ripon Triathlon. You battled the conditions and achieved success by crossing that finish line. 
We will start the process soon for 2017 and wish everyone the best of luck for rest of the 2016 season and hope you choose to return to Ripon in 2017.

I would also like to thank our partners and sponsors for another year of continued support for Ripon Triathlon. Without your support much of this weekend would not be possible. 

 
 

Club Chairman statement; 

NYP Tri have worked really hard this year to host the Event and organise the Catering, Car Parking, Camping, Entertainment and Prizes.  The Club once again delivered free entertainment instead of a big prize fund because we know competitors and their families really appreciate that.  NYP Tri has worked tirelessly to ensure all aspects of the Saturday event beyond the actual race worked for everyone who attended.  This year for this first time we have worked in partnership with Freebirds Events to deliver the Race, Results and Photograph’s with the responsibility for these areas sitting with Freebirds Events.

The children’s entertainment, the children’s fun run, the climbing wall, face painting were put on for free for visitors as we have done for years.  Unfortunately due to the poor weather forecast, rain & high Winds, the free bouncy castle & slide were withdrawn.  This decision was taken at 11am in consultation with the provider due to safety concerns, this was also announced at about 11am but obviously not everyone heard this message.  This was not in Freebirds Events remit.  All free entertainment and the evening band will be back in 2017 weather permitting.  The only thing missing in 2016 was the Bouncy Castle & Slide but there was the free kids play park with swings, slide and climbing frame in the same space.

NYP Tri is also responsible for Prizes and was able to supply a prize pot of around +£1000 pounds.  +£500 in the Competitors raffle open to all competitors, £500 in top 4 placings Male & Female and Black Sheep Beer was supplied to the top finishers who were present on the day.

Lastly, support to Charities is important to NYP Tri and we were able to make a significant donations.  A significant pile of Tri products was organised from our brilliant Expo stalls for a triathlete raising money for a Cancer Charity, that will be going to a charity auction. The YAA Air Ambulance banked £2,344.60 from car parking contributions and about £1500 more has gone to local sports groups, Scouts, Guides and the Ripon Lions who provided marshal's and water stations.  In all NYP TRI has raised over £4000 for Charities on the Saturday.

I know we don’t always get everything perfect but we always strive to make the Saturday a great family event and put on a good race.  NYP Tri would like to thank Freebirds Events for ensuring a great, safe race and ensuring the day was a success.
